Josh Phillips – Marketing Executive – Marketing

I joined not too long after the company became a Bank, so the idea of joining a growing company and being part of the journey excited me. No two days in Marketing are the same, we are a small team, and I am involved in a huge variety of tasks. It is also great working with all parts of the business and different teams.

What did you do before joining CTB?

After completing a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, while working at an email marketing company, I continued to work there for a total of 4 years, working with brands such as Estee Lauder, Sky and American Express on their email marketing campaigns.

What attracted you to working for CTB?

I joined not too long after Castle Trust became a bank, so the idea of joining a growing bank and being part of the journey excited me. After reading about Castle Trust Bank, the culture and values stood out to me as a place I’d love to join!

What roles have you had since joining CTB?

Marketing Executive only.

What attracted you to the role that you are in today?

After spending time in a very specific role, I was looking to expand my marketing experience in a more general role. With Marketing being a small team, I knew I was going to be exposed to a variety of tasks and projects.

What (and why) do you enjoy most about the role that you do?

No two days are the same! As we are a small team, I am involved in a huge variety of tasks. As a central function it is also great working with all parts of the business and different teams. This truly helps me understand how each part of the business fits in to help the overall picture.

What have you found challenging about your current role?

Due to the small team and a central function, this does come with its own challenges, as it may occasionally be hard to balance priorities.

What training and development opportunities have you / are you receiving?

I have been on a number of internal and external training sessions. These include Google Analytics (Basic and Advanced), Digital Marketing and Social Media Programme, InDesign, Presentation Skills.

What are your future career aspirations?

I am looking forward to keep developing my general marketing skills, knowledge of the financial services sector and personal development and see where the future takes me!

How would you describe the culture here at CTB?

The culture at Castle Trust Bank is excellent. To describe it with an anecdote, within my first month, the CEO, Martin, asked me how my time off was. In some companies the CEO may not even know who you are, let alone that you had a holiday!

What makes CTB a unique place to work?

The people at Castle Trust Bank make it unique! We all believe in the company values and therefore as a group, we all work excellently together, with a joint vision.
