Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for a position at your company?
Applying from our careers page is straightforward. Select the opportunity that you are interested in, click the green 'Apply for this job' button and follow the instructions on the next page to submit your application.
What should I include in my application?

You will be prompted to answer some questions and confirm your personal information. You will then be required to upload a recent and up to date copy of your CV and an optional cover letter. A cover letter is recommended as it’s a good way to stand out to us by highlighting your specific reasons for applying for the position.

What happens after I submit my application?

After submitting an application, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your application. Your application will then be reviewed by the hiring team, and you will be contacted by the recruitment team with an update.

How long will the hiring process take?

The hiring process duration varies depending on the role and the number of applicants. Typically, the process takes between 2 and 4 weeks.

What should I expect during the interview process?

Dependent on the role you are applying for, the interview process will typically include an initial telephone screen by a member of the HR team. You will then take part in one or more virtual / in-person interviews with the hiring team assessing the skills and competencies required for the role. There will be a more formal interview with HR at some point during the process from a behavioural perspective and to answer any broader questions you might have for us. You might be asked to undertake additional assessments as part of the interview process such as Emotional Intelligence profiling or a presentation.

How should I prepare for the interview process?

Research is key! Prepare by finding out more about the company in addition to reviewing in more detail the role that you are being interviewed for. Be prepared to answer competency-based questions providing examples when answering the questions demonstrating/outlining relevant experience. Finally, this is also your opportunity to ask us questions, so please be ready to do just that. Be authentic, be yourself!

Do you accept speculative CVs/applications?

Yes, we do. If you can't find an opportunity listed that is a good match to your skills and experience, you can email your CV and a short introduction to talent@castletrust.co.uk which will be reviewed by the recruitment team.

What support will you provide if I have a disability?

We are a Disability Confident Employer and are committed to an inclusive culture. We will provide those that need any additional support during the application, interview and onboarding process. This includes accessing job content/information in a more accessible format, reasonable adjustments during the interview process and beyond. Should you require additional support, please email talent@castletrust.co.uk or call us on 01256 678086.

What happens once I have received an offer of employment?

Once you have received your offer of employment, you will be asked to provide your right to work documentation and further  personal information. We will prepare your formal offer and contract and issue this to you along with your new starter information and welcome pack. We work with a third-party pre-employment screening partner who carry out pre-employment checks on our behalf – so you will be provided more information relating to this.

What pre-employment checks do you carry out?

As a Bank, we are required to ensure that all our employees are fit and proper to carry out their roles. As such, we carry out integrity checks (DBS, financial probity) and referencing.in addition to activity verification covering 3-6 years. Additional checks might apply for roles that are covered under SM&CR.

What can I expect during the onboarding process?

Once you have received, read and returned your new starter paperwork, during the remainder of the onboarding process you can expect contact from the HR team with any updates relating to your employment commencing, including confirmation of your start date and joining instructions for your first day. It is likely that your new line manager will reach out to you too and let you know what to expect during your first few weeks. Our pre-employment screening partner will be in regular contact with updates and any additional information that they might need from you.

What is the dress code?

In Basingstoke it’s a smart casual dress code, and in London it’s business dress code. It is best to overdress for your first day and adapt accordingly thereafter.

Does Castle Trust Bank offer visa sponsorship?

Visa sponsorship is considered on a case by case basis. If you require visa sponsorship, it is important that you notify the hiring team as early as possible during the application or interview process to avoid any potential challenges with employment.

How does Castle Trust Bank manage data during the recruitment process and throughout the course of employment?
